Job opportunities are available for various fields in the world. From the backward class, the scheduled tribes and scheduled castes, the government and their policies across the world have implemented various laws and amendments to secure the dignity of their communities and also safeguard dignified job opportunities.
However, one community or the section of society that remains backwards in accessing in dignified and respected jobs is the transgender community. Be it developing countries like India or the developed ones the like the Unites States, discrimination based on gender is borderline prevalent everywhere. Due to the pressure from social stigma and the discrimination on these transgender communities, people of the sector are forced to earn their daily bread by begging or prostitution.
Protection of rights
Despite the difficulties faced by the people of the transgender section of the society, the government still did not bat an eye to create a clear pathway of their future, until 2020. In recent years, people across the world, including the responsible citizens from governmental and non-governmental organizations, have raised their voice against this injustice.
This created a new wave of change which is being implemented in recent years. The governments from various countries are considering the matter for reading dignified and equal job opportunities for the people in the sector.
For instance, as a part of the Transgender Persons Protection of Rights of 2020, the Indian government has proposed various ways of providing equal opportunities for the employment of transgender communities into a permanent job and job positions. A recent bill passed on this matter establishes the implantation of all the measures that typically guarantees the non-discrimination of people, relating to the matters of unemployment. A detailed study based on the job employment opportunities of the transgender community states that every-one is five people from the community, works in bleak work conditions and is subjected to sexual harassment and other problem, that they face on a daily basis. They’re also biased based on the discrimination in jobs. This also includes the refusal of the companies to hire the transgender candidates and other common occurrences in job structure.
Many people also report a change in their job, jobs positions, departments etc. to avoid this sex-based discrimination. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) based of 2012, has now investigated the matter and settled for the cases on behalf of the transgender community. They have enforced a working priority of employment that strongly addresses the issues and provide better protection and working conditions for the people in the community.
After many years of fighting for their rights in the society, the government and the people are taking baby steps in accepting the transgender community as a people of their own, without secular discrimination. The right to human employment and other acts have also, along with the government support, taken steps and decisions in increasing the job opportunities for the section of society. They have also pledged to increase their employment opportunities in relatable and a dignified field.
